Japandi, Wabi-sabi or Cali-Cool?

Inspired by the designs you saw on The Block this year? AI can help you re-imagine them and more.

While we’ve been renovating Cypress, there was one particular phone call I always dreaded:

“Darls, I need you to choose some tiles…”

You might think that’s not that bad, but when it comes to interior design, I have no idea.

I take inspiration from family members and friends who do have a design eye, and I am really in awe of home stagers who just know what to put where.

Every time I got this particular call, I would literally drop everything and go straight to Midjourney for inspiration. There’s more on that one here.

This week, like most Aussies, I tuned into The Block Finale to see Steph and Gian take out Season 20 with their immaculately re-designed Japandi-style home.

I also had no idea what Japandi was or is, so I had to look it up, and then I wondered if Midjourney could create something for me.

Prompt of the Day

I will start in ChatGPT because I’m figuring if we can get a list of Japandi characteristics or furniture, we can then prompt Midjourney using these to get our images.

In this example, I’m going to use a living room.

My first prompt is:

My second prompt is:

What are some pieces you would find in a japandi styled [living room]?

In addition to the first answer, the ChatGPTs answers here will give me pretty much everything I need to construct a Midjourney prompt that should produce some good-looking images.

Here is the Midjourney prompt I put together from these descriptions

There are plenty of Midjourney artists out there who could probably come up with better prompts, but this one is an easy rinse and repeat if you have clients looking for design ideas in any style for any room.
