Halloween: The real estate edition

"When black cats prowl and pumpkins gleam, may luck be yours on Halloween."

I kind of hate Halloween.

I’m Australian, and I just don’t get it.

But - it’s becoming more and more of a thing in this hemisphere; as we speak, I’m looking out my window at some of the houses in the street that have spooky decorations, and I know I’m probably going to cave when it comes to buying some fun-sized Snickers bars for the kids tomorrow night.

It did occur to me, though, that for the non-grinches among us, it might be a theme you could use for marketing.

Prompt of the Day

It's Halloween tomorrow, and I've left it a bit late to do anything. I'm a real estate agent. What are some last-minute marketing ideas that are easy to do and free or low cost?

I have to tell you I hated all the ideas it gave me more than I hate hearing the usual scripts in a listing presentation.

I mean, seriously, who wants to decorate a perfectly staged property with cobwebs…right?

But amongst the bad ones, ChatGPT did give me a couple of interesting suggestions:

  1. Tell some ghost stories about your area. You can prompt ChatGPT with, "I live in [Your suburb]. Are there any chilling ghost stories or haunted landmarks in the area?"

  2. Leverage platforms like Facebook and Instagram to design engaging quizzes or polls. Pose questions like, "Would you consider purchasing a haunted residence?" with options like 'Yes' or 'No'. Or, "In which iconic horror film residence would you like to stay overnight?" giving choices between "Psycho's Bates Mansion" and "The Amityville Horror House" (With pics, this could actually be kind of cool!)

And… if you don’t like these, you can always ask ChatGPT for more ideas.

As for me, I’ll be going with neither of those options and instead will likely lean on a meme of some kind instead:

Happy Hunting (I mean Halloween) 🎃🎃🎃
