ChatGPT's new voice and image capabilities

This is my 100th post on this blog 🎉

When I started this little blog earlier in the year, I strongly believed that AI would significantly impact various sectors, including real estate. Looking back on the 100 posts, prompts, and tools I have written since then, it's clear that the technology has evolved substantially (and continues to do so!)

This is especially true for OpenAI's ChatGPT, which has seen considerable improvements since its initial version in November 2022.

So, to celebrate 100 posts, there won’t be cake, but I thought I might finally turn on the Substack Notes tab - it’s a little feature that allows me to post short thoughts and links quick as a flash!

The plan is to use it to post things I’ve read about that I think you might find interesting and keep you as up-to-date as possible on the big stories going on in the world of AI (so we can keep this space clear for the more practical real estatey-type stuff!)

To give you a taste of the type of content I’ll be posting there, here are three big stories in AI this week you might find interesting:

  1. OpenAI has announced that in October, for paying subscribers, DALL-E 3 will become available within ChatGPT. This means you can write your blog post within ChatGPT and get it to create an image at the same time simultaneously. Further, where tools like MidJourney - and also previous versions of DALL-E have struggled to produce text in the past, it looks as though this new version has it nailed. (I can’t wait to take it for a test drive in creating a cheeky meme or two…)

  1. Your assistant will soon talk to you. The ChatGPT mobile app currently allows you to input voice commands and receive text responses. However, an upcoming update will enable the assistant to respond to you in voice as well. This feature enhances the user experience, making interactions more natural (and makes it even more important to say please and thank you to the robot, I feel!) Additionally, the update will introduce the capability to interact with images. This is particularly useful for various applications, such as in real estate. For instance, if you're unsure about a specific architectural style, you can take a photo, upload it to ChatGPT, and ask for information. You can read more about that update here.

  2. The race to dominate the AI space is on - Amazon, who were a bit behind, has committed to an initial $1.25B and will invest up to $4B in OpenAI competitor Anthropic, makers of Claude. Much of this is about keeping pace with rivals Microsoft and Google. Side note: Anthropic uses AWS to run its models, and compute power is expensive, so good move for them!

So there you go, big week in AI news this week. Find these and more on the Notes Tab.

Happy Hunting 🚀
